A Year in the Life of Kirkbymoorside

This ambitious project began on 1 January 2022 and finished on 31 December 2022.

The aim was to capture images of everyday life in Kirkbymoorside. All too often the images of today are posted online and can disappear as fast as they appear. So, the history group decided to print hard copies as a permanent record and began the appeal to get members of the public involved. The response was overwhelming and by the time the project ended we had got over 3,000 photographs, a proportion of which were put out on display over two
exhibitions.

Next comes the challenging part of sorting, labelling and cataloguing the images so
that they can be used as reference material in the future. If anyone would like to be
involved with this project, please do get in touch.

We are also in the process of compiling a selection of images from the project into a limited print-run book. We hope that it will be available to see as a sample by the summer (2024) so watch this space for more details.
